“Fun” (scary?) but lacking rigor imo. The author often talk like he knows something the rest of us don’t and has a hard time explaining exactly why. I’m not saying I disagree, but having your entire argument rely on the assertion that ASI will have “weird and alien preferences” because it just will, is not scientific.
That being said I throughly enjoyed it, and tend to agree with a lot of the claims from a purely layperson, AI enthusiasts, lateral thinker point of view.
Give it a listen if you don’t mind AI doomerism getting your heart pumping a little!
