The story is good. The narration with all the wonderful voice work raises it to Very Good, justifying spending a credit. Though this is not surprising given it’s one of the recent productions by Sound Booth Theater.
While some people may not like Roq’s personality as a diva, I think it adds a good deal of charm. I will agree Roq’s lines are spoken in Uppercase Shouting, so having the volume too high might be uncomfortable if wearing headphones. Personally, I use headphones with good ANC so the volume can often stay low, which mitigates this issue entirely; I only mention it due to other reviews bringing it up as a negative.
Personally, I think the story for this first book stands alone just fine. If at the end f you’re not interested in the rest of the series, this book was at least entertaining; which happens to be my own feelings on it.
