The story, voice acting, and character work is great as it always has been and if you are this far in you know what I am talking about.
Few points I would appreciate being fixed by the author.
– Unless there is some actual payoff please stop with Old Tolley or at least lessen it. The sections from her point of view occur way to often and take up a good portion of chapters.
– The cut aways during climactic moments should lessen in my opinion. I don’t mind seeing other members of the colony (human or ant) developing but those parts need to be placed more organically and certainly not in the middle of major plot points otherwise you are just cutting tension for no reason. I feel like the earlier books had a way better balance of this and would appreciate a return to form.
– I dont feel like the last 2 books needed to be split. As mentioned if you lessen Old Tolley and some of the obvious filler then you could have easily fit the stories together. Considering that the battle with the demons in the beginning of this story was largely anti-climatic (it makes sense but is a bit disappointing) I think it would have made more sense to condense these.
