I loved this book. It was such an amazing journey of a romance that made me very emotional at times. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Cody and Liam. My heart ached at Liam’s fear and paranoia of being discovered; the walls he kept up; what he felt was at stake. His journey over the course of the book as he gradually let some walls down while trying to hard to keep up the mask was a flurry of ups and downs for me emotionally. Hated how it made Cody feel or when it hurt him. But years of that weight and suppression and fear was just as painful. But I loved that the moment that he was needed most, he stepped up for the only thing that was important at the moment and it was beautiful to see. The scene with Liam’s family… God. Joel Leslie is fantastic and incredible and one of the few narrators who can make me cry! And this scene made me stop and take a breather for the tears running down my face. Though something beautiful came from it, too. But that part forever haunts and hurts me.
I loved all the lifeguards. They were fun, funny, and supportive. I loved the banter between them. The lifeguarding work was an exciting adventure each time. I especially loved the cameo of Ethan and Clay from Keira Andrews’ Honeymoon For One. I loved that book and it was another fantastic story where Clay had his bi-awakening.
This is such a beautiful and emotional romance, and I’m so happy there’s now a sequel! Definitely check it out!
