Such complex world building with very interesting characters. I do hate to say the first 50% of the book was a bit long and dragging however the last 50% made it worth it. The world building was very carefully crafted and after reading it all i actually appreciate the way the first part of the book dragged on as it felt necessary in order for those big plot twists to work so well. Not a hole was left in the plot and I genuinely quite like this! The anti-hero character of Finn was honestly a shocking character that I don’t often read in books. He was so unlikeable and the things he did and definitely made me gasp In disbelief. It was shocking because in the first part of the book you think he’s gonna be the hero in the end or even perhaps journey to the god tower to save Clara like a retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice. As you get to read his perspective more you realize that he fucking suuuuuuckss so bad. It’s uncomfortable how much he sucks. So the fact that I had that much of a reaction and opinion on Finn as a character was neat because it made me notice how unique his character was simply because he starts off “okay” and then you slowly get to see his unlikeability from his own perspective. I did feel like Jesina could’ve used some more work which is the only reason why for the 4.75/5 rating for me, but I have a feeling we’ll get to see her grow in the next book. Tyse, swoon. Swoon worthy!!!! No complaints.

TLDR: FANTASTIC complex world building with unique characters! 4.75
