The story is about a group of people thrust into a survivor setting on a space ship and their attempts to maintain some semblance of the society that they left behind. The action is very fast-paced and moves the book along at a brisk pace. Even though it is a short book, the characters are well-developed and you become invested in them. I thought the narrator did an excellent job, my only criticism being the parts that were the log/journal portion of the book. It was a different narrator and his voice didn’t have much cadence to it. Not sure why they did it this way, but it wasn’t the best introduction to the book. I was worried I was going to have to sit through over 2 hours of it and that voice would put me to sleep. Luckily, the main narrator made up for it and I enjoyed listening to him. The ending of the book had a twist that I saw coming, but only because it reminded me of an episode of a television show that I watch which had a similar twist ending. I wish the ending gave us more of a glimpse into the future. I would have like a peek a few years into the future to see what has become of Jake. Did he live up to everyone’s expectations? Truly, I enjoyed this book. The themes were simple to understand and the message that the author was trying to convey was clear. Though I received this book at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review from AudioBookBoom, I would gladly have paid for it.
