Faction Wars. I thought we’d never get here 😭 I took my time (TWO WHOLE DAYS, GUYS!) with this one because it was the last book available to us while Matt Dinniman works his magic with the next installment. And I am in agony. You will not break me, Matt Dinniman!!

This series is my Roman Empire. I think about it every day, recommend it to anyone who enters my orbit, and I’m even handing out “New Achievement” badge ribbons at Villains & Vixens because I am such a fangirl at this point.

This Inevitable Ruin brought the emotion, I have to say. Still full of hijinks and levity, but man the scene where Carl got to meet a bunch of the previous Cookbook authors? Tears. He’s lost everything (except Donut) and he has the weight of all the remaining human lives on his shoulders, he has a giant spider in his chest, and the looming decision about Katiya and Donut’s fate constantly on his brain. But for a moment, he got to feel surrounded by family. His Cookbook family. They’ve all been watching and rooting for him behind the scenes. They are here for him. 💔

We lost a few friends, and gained a new one. Rend, the tummyacher that was given to Carl at the end of the last book, is Carl’s new pet. And he fits in perfectly, winning us all over with his little toof and giggles. We lost a lot of the villains in this one, so I’m excited to see who the new foils will be in the subsequent floors. GAH I need the next book 😭😩

If you’re not currently reading this series, I highly recommend it. I’ve never had so much fun reading/listening to a book.
