New to audiobooks thanks to Jeff Hayes’s role in other series. Probably been through three dozen different books now and this is the first one I’ve had to drop

The main character is very slow to advance and the first third of the book is a “wallow to get better” arc that just doesn’t hit.

Then add in arguably one of the most annoying voice directions one could choose for the Mimic (always changing tone, pitch, and cadence with way too much gurgling), and you get a less than desirable read.

I like the premise, in theory, but this performance and story is lacking.
