The author seems to have deliberately aimed for a firefly feel: cargo ship with dodgy but lovable ensemble crew in which almost everyone has a secret, and the government and crime bosses are gunning for the ship. If I had any complaint about the story, it would be that it almost feels like too much is happening too fast, but I’d say the author manages to pull it all together in spite of that, and there are enough mysteries remaining to keep you interested in what happens next. I’d consider buying the next book in the series, and am interested to see how the story and characters develop from here.
