There’s certainly a lot of humour in this book, made even more so by the narration coming perilously close to a Kronk imitation, but the story is also incredibly dark. What happened with the Hoarder is genuinely haunting me but I don’t feel like it haunts Carl or Donut, nor does the narration linger on it. It just seems to meld into the general unpleasantness of the dungeon.
