At this point I have invested a lot of time and energy into this series and I am genuinely pissed at how horrible this book was. I don’t even know where to begin. Throughout the series the characters have been steadily grinding and progressing which is obviously what defines the genre. Everything is building up to this huge epic battle. Then suddenly the author just completely stops writing a LitRPG and starts writing an infuriatingly predictable cliche ridden young adult type fantasy novel. So much worse than the end of GOT. At least that had killing. The MC battles for weeks on the front line and is only described as killing and gaining experience from one opponent!!! The rest of the main characters get none! This is a LitRPG and the author assigns experience to 1 character 1 time over a span of 4/5 of the book. Not to mention they just do such a horrible job of describing the battle in terms of numbers and casualties it provides no scope whatsoever. It is just one predictable cliche after another. They use the same stupid simile every time they want to emphasize something it is just embarrassing. “As hard as a brick inside another brick made from even stronger bricks” or as tough as the strongest nails hammered into existence from even stronger nails.” It doesn’t come across as funny just dumb and nonsensical. I keep thinking like did they just get lazy and use chatGPT to write the bulk of this. He just keeps reusing the same tired BS. Anyway I am done with this series and pissed I spent this much time invested in it.
