I liked this book, and I grew particularly fond of Conor Night. He’s a really interesting character that is adequately developed. He faces his own illness, and the sadness of missing his family, but at the same time, he tackles his obstacles one day at a time. Conor Night makes a wonderful protagonist, and I really enjoy his snark, especially when he is dealing with the reanimated dead.

I greatly appreciate how multifaceted this story is without being muddled and confusing. The protagonist is an anti-hero, but this book contains enough of his historicity that his decisions and actions make sense to his character. Moreover, Jeff Hays performance is very entertaining, as he uses different voices for the female characters and the various monsters, and don’t worry, the voices aren’t grating!

This book is like urban fantasy meets noir. I highly recommend it to urban fantasy lovers that are looking for a new story that is engrossing without all the tired and over-used clichés!

I was given a copy of this book by the narrator in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
