If you read the other two books, then you will be vested enough to want to follow through on the end of the trilogy. While not supplying any spoilers, I thought the ending was a very fitting way to bring the series to completion.
That was the best part. However to get there, you have to muddle through a through tangential stories that come to unsatisfactory ends. Now don’t get me wrong, the bones of the story, the building blocks, were as amazing as the original story. However, the story lines within those blocks seem hurried and not completely thought through.
The narration is spot on, continuing the story that originated the series.
