I liked the story and in spite of not being a baseball fan, still enjoyed pretty much everything.
I did found two things which lessened the overall book for me:
The narrator’s breathy speaking voice was constantly annoying so I switched the audiobook to 1.2x speed.
Also anachronisms such as “gay” and “queer” were bandied about with aplomb in the book’s 1960 timeframe and took me out of the story every time.
