If you are reading the Strongbow series then yes. I would not recommend it as a stand alone book.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Hays’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes the first 3 books of the series. This is the weakest one of the series. This book should have been cut back and combined with the last book or book 5. But this one solidifies Halfdan as one of the leaders in Hastein’s crew and war band. It also hints at Halfdan’s hand to hand abilities that might play a factor in the last book.

This is a good series but this is the weakest book in the series so far. There are 2 other books coming out, book 5 and the Beast of Dublin that are also relevant to this story. Obviously book 5 completes the story but Beast of Dublin is a related book that precedes the series and sounds like it will be worth reading as well.
