Sometimes got a little into the weeds on descriptions of strategies, but I suppose that made it more believable to people who actually understood what he was talking about.
The narrator did pretty good except when it came to bad guys, especially the gangsters. He just sounds too wholesome and I had to actively push past his voice and lean on context and the author’s use of idiolects (if that’s the right term) to stay in the story.
I also couldn’t help but notice the unrealistic lack of use of the F word (this became especially apparent again, with the gangsters, saying “freakin'”). However, if he had inserted the F word more realistically, it would have been unbearable to listen to – so I can respect his choice to leave it out.
