Matt Dinniman did it again. Another great story. I laughed out loud multiple times thoughout the book. The story line has heart and it remains interesting throughout. I took to reading most of this because the voice actor pronounced things oddly. I thought so in previous books. For example, phonetically, Odette is Oh-debt, not odd-et.
But the most egregious one to me, when Google is so readily available and it takes 3 seconds to learn how to pronounce something, especially something that was written so many times in the book is the terribly mispronounced Quetzalcoatles. First you should say it like the bird (or the old God from Latin America) quetzal;
kett-sahl. then the end of the word is co-atlus. It was said so many times in the book. Truly, I believe a professional should do a quick Google search. I used to assume that the voice actors were working with the author. But I’m presuming that is not the case here. Kett-sahl-ko-at-less. it’s a beautiful word with a beautiful origin. it was butchered so many times by this Mr. Jeff Hayes.
This wasn’t even the only word. But it came up like 50 times in this book that it seems irresponsible not to figure out how to pronounce it correctly. Especially when a Google search is so readily available and so quick. Maybe if you’re unsure, use the tools that are available to us these days. . It was so off putting.
