If you’re here for LITRPG this is basically the genre definer at this point. Expect lots of cussing, swearing, death, violence, gore, and irreverent humor. This isn’t a book for young children, but it’s still pretty awesome.
The sequels made a change that I appreciate: in this book anytime Donut’s chat is read, the voice performer uses Carl’s voice for some reason. After this, chat is always in the voice of the character writing.
There is a typo in the book that makes it into this audio book. At one point a character, Brandon, is talking about something the group built, and states: “This whole thing was her (Imani’s) idea, though Brandon designed it. He even added ramps so they can get on and off easily.” Yep, Brandon talks about himself in third person. But it’s in the original book that way, so can’t fault the voice performer for reading it I suppose.
Despite that, if you’re looking for a good read that builds into something of galactically awesome stakes and violence in a dungeon RPG setting, this is the one.
