- Even though this is a shorter book, it didn’t feel like it. A lot of shorter books leave you feeling like something was skipped or left out. That is not the case here. There is a lot of story packed into this book. Suspenseful, interesting, sometimes humorous and enjoyable.
When you think about everything going on in the world today the premise of this book is scary.
The story starts 2 years after the die off or the apocalypse. There are flashbacks to Stryker’s past when the plague first started showing what he went through. Stryker has been alone for the most part since that time, except for occasional visits to a trading post. When his former drill instructor arrives needing his help Stryker’s world is changed again.
Stryker has great taste in music even if it’s only in his head.
Just when the story was getting really good it ended. The dreaded cliffhanger. How soon will book 2 be out.
Kevin Pierce did a great job with the narration as usual. He has the perfect voice for the alpha male ex-military hard**s. Great for this type of story. He has one of those voices that you never get tired of listening to. Good character voices even the females. Clearly spoken. Smooth delivery. Nice even pace. All around great job.
