- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- Yes and no. It’s a very entertaining book. If it weren’t for the frequent and unnecessary f-bombs the book could reach a wider range of readers. No I wouldn’t recommend to individuals who prefer to stay away from profanity but yes I would recommend otherwise.
- What other book might you compare Soldiers of Fortune to and why?
- Ember War Saga by Richard Fox. Because its full of space adventures with different alien races, sweet space tech, and great comic relief.
- Which character – as performed by Paul Heitsch – was your favorite?
- I like crusher. The personality of the beast is awesome. The loyal level-headed and intelligent monstrosity that can go into berserker mode when needed.
- If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
- Guardians of the Galaxy meets Star Trek
- Any additional comments?
- I love the character development in this series. I’ve never read a book where the characters are so well developed. It really helps with following the story line. There are too many books where a ton of characters are introduced too quickly and you are trying to figure out who’s who as the story goes on. That’s not the case for this book.
The adventures are fun and entertaining. There is plenty of comic relief throughout to keep you laughing. The violence is not over the top and appropriate enough for teens.
The only gripe I have is with the F-bombs. If it weren’t for the F-bombs I could listen to this audiobook in front of my kids. The story really doesn’t need the F-bombs as they serve no purpose to the story other than to limit the demographics of listeners. I’m not squeamish to profanity as I’ve spent years in the special operations community. There are times in a novel where profanity can add to the situation. But in this case the author seems to drop random F-bombs just for the heck of it. This is really my only gripe to the Omega Force series.
