Story was great—I love Keri Lake’s books—but the woman who read the female lead had a shrill voice and didn’t fit the actual character. I had to reduce the volume often when she was reading because her voice was loud and too high-pitched. The story is dark, so the female actor’s voice didn’t fit. It’s like she didn’t know when to slow down or lower her voice to fit the mood. It distracted from the story and made listening a little disappointing.
