Plot and characters were well written and narrator did a great job. I cared deeply about the characters that he created and the world was very believable. I bought the story hook, line and sinker.
The only issue I had was that a white writer should never use the N word and a white narrator should never read it. Also, they should never “talk like they were black” it’s deeply offensive and completely inappropriate.
The white men in the book were the heroes and the “gang bangers” were the unintelligent, poorly organized enemy in one location. The other location was the aryan brotherhood playing the same role but they first did some heinous things to all the “mud people”. I’m a 45 year old white man and this made me very uncomfortable.
The story line was so good however that I completed the book, I just made sure no one else could hear it (I.e. I kept my windows up in my truck while listening).
