Excellent descriptive writing that keeps your interest and makes you want to hear what happens next. However the ideas of people in poverty, housing projects, apartments, and mental hospitals being the bad guys who threaten a “man’s” way of life, is an outdated notion that is repeated over and over throughout. It made it hard for me to relate to the machismo of guns, authoritative bravado and female fragility. So many reviews talk about the realism, for me it just wasn’t real which makes it feel like a manifesto on patriarchy’s greatest fears.
