This for sure needs a trigger warning for child death, child r*pe, statutory r*pe, r*pe, murder, and torture. This was gross. I understand a lot of it was to explain the pain of the characters, but Jesus….. the part where he’s saying it’s ok for him and Solange to have a relationship because he consented…. No no no. Not ok. Children cannot consent and stories like this perpetuate that it’s ok because it was a boy with an older woman. I also cringed through the entire explanation of generational trauma and genetics. I’ve read other books by this author that I enjoyed, but this one is not it.
