Wrong Heart pulled me in right from the beginning the premise felt raw and emotional, and the early chapters had me invested in the characters’ struggles and the unfolding tension. Jennifer Hartmann knows how to hook a reader with heartfelt moments and heavy emotions, and at first, I thought this would be one of those stories that stays with me.
Unfortunately, as the story moved forward, that intensity faded. The middle dragged with too much repetition, and instead of deepening the characters or plot, it began to feel predictable. The twists were easy to spot, and the emotional punches that hit so hard at first started losing impact. By the final stretch, it became a bit of a chore to finish, and I found myself skimming rather than savoring.
This book definitely has potential, and I can see why others might connect more deeply with it. But for me, the promising start just didn’t carry through, leaving it feeling uneven and underwhelming. A strong opening that sadly fizzled out into something I could only rate as “okay.”
