A friend of mine recommended this book to me. He is extremely well read on many thought provoking and intelligent topics. I tend more towards the entertaining and humorous side of things. So when he recommended Dungeon Crawler Carl I wondered if he was recommending something over my head… again. His only statement was, “This is amusing. Ain’t deep, or dense, or even thought provoking. It’s just silly. Sometimes silly is enough.”

If he recommended this to me, then that means I’m silly, not deep. Have I been insulted? Am I the stupid one? I mean, obviously yes compared to him. But stupid in the general sense? After laughing out loud multiple, multiple times, I no longer care if I’m the court jester. I have a new series to enjoy, and enjoying it I am.

I’d accidentally read a LitRPG once, and couldn’t even finish the book. Its not my genre. I barely played D&D growing up and I get lost in all the character points and buffs. I find it tedious and distracting. I did play RPG games so I’m familiar but if this is LitRPG, it might be my new favorite thing.

I find the narration extremely well done. The characters are distinctive and endlessly fresh. I was at book three before I accidentally listened to the post book ad and laughed heartedly again. Just that ad would have made the book worth the listen.

If this is “out there” for you, give it a listen. Its endlessly entertaining and will brighten your day.
