I didn’t want it to end. Since apocalyptic fiction generally has the same sort of premise, it’s challenging to find otherwise unique stories, but gifted authors do it all the time. Gifted narrators seal the deal. This story is full of characters who become fully human, lovable or not, to the listener. When the reader continues to think about the lives of the characters even when they’ve stepped away from the story, that’s a good sign. This was my first book by this author, and I admittedly chose it over others because of the narrator, but I’m going to search for another book by him when I’m done with this review.
