This was an amazing book to read and listen to. The narration is top notch and like many of Matt’s books, there are very smart deconstructions of humanity, generational trauma and social constructs.
This story is about people. It’s about societies. It’s about what happens when we “other” groups of people and see them as less than human.
All of that is wrapped up in a story that moves fast and only lets you breath in small quiet moments where we get to know the characters and the pain they carry from their lives and the lives of those who shaped them.
This isn’t Dungeon Crawler Carl, but it rhymes with it on so many levels.
Adding a few soul wounds that came up from this one to my list to talk to my therapist about.
