There were some charming characters, but the main character was a selfish jerk. He couches his actions as ‘good for the family’ but he doesn’t hesitate to impose his will on everyone without permission. He has no problem manipulating everyone else. When he is asked for guidance, it’s too much trouble for him to give it. Then he says it’s ‘tough love’.
Some of the other characters are fun, and the narrator was delightful.
