Dungeon Crawler Carl (Book 1) absolutely hooked me from the first chapter. I went in expecting a fun, weird LitRPG romp and got a full-on adrenaline ride that somehow balances chaos, comedy, and genuine heart. The world-building is wild, the pacing never lets up, and the narration is next-level. Seriously, this might be one of the best performed audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. The voice work brings every ridiculous, terrifying, and hilarious moment to life in a way that makes it impossible to pause.

Carl is the perfect reluctant hero, and Princess Donut is an instant legend. Their dynamic alone is worth the listen. I laughed out loud more times than I can count, and yes, at least once I found myself muttering “GODDAMIT Donut” right along with him.

What surprised me most is that beneath all the absurdity and over-the-top dungeon madness, there’s real emotional weight and clever satire. It’s funny, brutal, heartfelt, and completely addictive.

If you like humor, action, game mechanics, great characters, and audiobooks that fully commit to the bit, do yourself a favor and start this series. I loved this book and immediately queued up the next one.
