The Sword of Kaigen is a standalone fantasy. Quite simply, this book was phenomenal. It will destroy you, rip your heart into a million pieces, and have you asking for more. Wang is truly masterful in story telling and writing unique character arcs. These are the types of characters and stories that will stick with you but also make you think. It’s also worth noting this is a thick and intense book. I chose to read it via audiobook and would highly recommend that format. Andrew Tell was incredible as a narrator balancing different timelines, narratives, and emotions all while packing a punch. Seriously, do yourself a favor and read this book.
