I’m so out of it that I got this book because I had never seen the Danny DeVito movie, Ruthless People and didn’t realize until after finishing it that these are entirely different stories! So much for being clueless. I’m glad I wandered into it though.
This book does use blatant sex and violence, similar to Pulp Fiction or the sex in Boogie Nights. Be careful who listen to this with. For instance, do not listen to it with your children, even adult children, unless you have an interesting relationship with them.
This book has two protagonists, equally matched, and equally evil. Some reviewers like only good and heroic protagonists and, if that describes you, you will not like this book. There is violence, but it is not gratuitous.
Those warnings aside, this is one of the most strongly plotted and peopled books that I have listened to in a long time. I’m sure I will go on to the rest of the series. The author is absurdly young, it made me cry to find out how talented she is at such a young age.
