I began the Dungeon Crawler Carl series on a whim. I have no experience with RPGs – no DND, no Zelda, no FPS games. I grew up playing Galaga and Tetris. Had I known it was a RPG novel, I probably wouldn’t have begun the series. Ignorance is bliss! I have absolutely loved this series. It is entertaining, humorous, imaginative, and such a guilty pleasure. But I was so confused that only Jeff Hays was listed as narrator for what was clearly a multi-actor production. No way anyone could come up with so many distinct voices for so many characters, much less keep them straight and consistent. Jeff Hays is such an incredible narrator – even more impressive than Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black – and perfectly matched to bring to life Matt Dinniman’s wacky, bawdy, irreverent yet touching adventures of Carl and Donut. Impatiently waiting for the next in the series.
