Joel Leslie is incredible. He has such a vast range and ability to maintain different characters, while also ACTING every moment.
These characters and story surprised me. There was far more depth and care given to each person in this story than I expected. Each book is perfectly interconnected and overlapped, and it creates such a rich tapestry of blocking and action. It truly evolves into an ensemble cast even if we are limited to two perspectives in each book.
Yes, one character is reminiscent of Christopher Walken, but it WORKS for him, and honestly, there are a lot of surprises throughout these books as far as character development. Each relationship stands on its own, with unique dynamics that just work for the person written.
So glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews I found for these books. Will absolutely re-listen.
