The story sometimes bounces between perspectives and it’s not clear when that happens. I prefer a single viewpoint, but besides jumping between the two protagonists viewpoints, there’s also at least five other viewpoints. one of which was beyond savory, and I feel like too much time with spent on it. There was also at least five instances of descriptions of dead children, which I did not need, and it can easily be argued that the last two were completely unnecessary and added for effect only.
