Overweight IT nerd turns into Jason Bourne, literally overnight. I love fantasy and sci-fi, along with more grounded categories, like apocalypse and prepper books. But if you are going to write a book grounded in reality, it needs to be somewhat plausible. Shortly after the first book in this series starts, our hero Logan literally transforms into both a martial arts and firearms expert. He moves through enemies like a knife through butter. Maybe this is the true power fantasy; middle aged guys imagining themselves turned into lethal killing machines. Logan also turns into a chick magnet. It’s just too much. I guess he’s also 007.

Apocalypse and prepper favorite Kevin Pierce’s narration is fairly mediocre. Unlike more talented narrators, Kevin has literally one voice for all characters, including females. It makes it difficult to know which character he’s voicing in group conversations. And, he has no clue how to pronounce Krav Maga. 30 seconds of research would have answered this Kevin. Just 30 seconds.
