That’s what I can’t get out of my head; J.S. Morin just keeps getting better at the craft of weaving words into a fantastic feat of world building that spans the galaxy and beyond. And this collection is by far my favorite of his complete collections released so far on Audible. I’ve listened to all of them in release order (saving all of Mirth & Mayhem to listen to at once for last before I’ll move on to the new series when its complete collection releases), not a quick task due to Morin’s prolificness threatening to approach Sanderson’s if they keep on this vector. However, while it was a time-intensive commitment, each complete collection has been a treasure trove of new stories and in-depth character building. Gone are any traces of two dimensional characters- barring those who live two dimensional lives. I actually cried at several points in this collection. Something I never thought I would have done when I started reading the first book of the Black Ocean. It’s been worth the wait to see these works transition from fun SF with amazing concepts that’s given a pass on story elements to fantastic stories with all the above. Well done. Do you think these would end up in the Plundered Tomes?
