The world and system mechanics are interesting. But the story overall was kind of lame. The main badguy lacks any real motivation beyond “they are a psychopath” that’s it, that’s the main driving force behind why they do evil things, they are just evil. Totally one dimensional. and the battle to finish off the main bad guy ends when… all of a sudden someone else shows up out of no where, kills the main bad guy, then just leaves without saying a god damned thing. That’s it. It’s like the main final battle was written at 5:00 on a Friday (oh shit, I gotta end this thing, and right now!). The story also seems to have two main plots going on at the same time, one is the interesting one, and the other is the super boring one, guess which one they spend most of the time on. The majority of this book feels like watching the filler episode of an anime on a loop. Despite the cast doing an excellent job, I don’t think I will be getting any more of the books in this series.
