Ok, so admittedly I only listened to the first book because my anxiety couldn’t handle the level of fear for the characters.
Because I don’t like it when bad things happen to the main characters or side characters. I almost called it quits a few times because of that but I was invested in the story. I still kind of am but I borrowed this one and don’t think I’ll be able to finish it (get over the fear/anxiety) before I have to return it.
I will say that the story was amazing and well told. And HOLY FRICKIN HELL does Joel ever do a phenomenal job at bringing everyone to life! I had to adjust the volume a few times and was very glad I wasn’t wearing earphones to listen to this because when the characters yell, he yells. When we’re introduced to Laurent and his harrowing experience at the beginning, you can FEEL it in your bones.
Even though I probably won’t be finishing the boxset, I still highly recommend listening to this, especially if you like these tropes and the author duo that is K.A. Merikan.
