The concept reminded me of a blend between The Last Samurai and Avatar, but felt that the story fell short with world building and character development.
Was not a fan of the narrator. He did not to capture the emotion / passion of the characters and most of the characters just sounded the same. I think the performance ended up detracting from the story for me because it was a major hindrance to character development.
Another nit I had was the random words used for units of time — although years were still years for some reason — and distance. They didn’t add to the plot or world building, and made visualizing the story much more difficult.
