This series starts out strong, engaging, and interesting. Exciting character making logical decisions to survive and then to thrive. Sadly, it moves more and more away from the core family and the rest of the group of well-developed characters and turns into just your run-of-the-mill military fiefdom saga, yawn. Up until the last 2 books, it still has enough interest in the original group and family strife to hold my interest. I found myself hoping it would get back to its origins. But the characters that were so much of what made the 1st few books amazing are all but discarded for a flood of underdeveloped military characters. I wish the storyline had stayed centered around the original plot and characters.
