This was the first book of this sort for me, and I’m hooked. I’m not a prepper, but was in the military; in fact, an Army MP, though I did my OSUT at Fort McClellan, and served on active duty during relative peace time. So all the military jargon wasn’t lost on me. The detailed travel of the characters allowed me to open up maps and follow their progress. Fort Leonard Wood isn’t familiar to me, but when the MP training buildings were described, I knew I had to Google and look at them, because they seem to be modeled after the old military police barracks at Fort McClellan (Echo-12, standing tall, first to fight, last to fall!)! Even though I’m a disabled vet now, I used to be strong, and can relate to the strong women characters in Days of Want. I finished the book a couple days ago, yet the characters are still with me. I want to know what happens next. Kevin Pierce as narrator is wonderful, and I’m seeking out other audiobooks that he narrates. And of course I’m now a T. L. Payne fan. I have no idea how I came across the Days of Want series, but am so glad I did.
