Dinniman uses language and content that’s definitely not for kids, yet this reads like Captain Underpants for adults. Was I expecting quirky quips and zingers? Yes. Instead of emulating a silly adventure in World of War craft or bring the likes of humor like Portal 1 and 2, you’re balls deep in 4 chapters of pop up menus. Assaulted with failed joke after failed joke.
And yes I’m gonna go there– feminism. Could you imagine if a woman wrote a book where the main character was feminine and talked about how hot and great she was for PAGES on end? Oh she’d be a laughing stock. Was this character meant to come off as a tool? It was about two chapters at least of his describing how tall and fit he is. How he’s not the type of guy to do this because it’s below him. Can you say Lunk Alert?
Finally, my biggest pet peeve. Redundancy. He constantly repeats information, characters names, thoughts etc. There’s no way this was edited.
I honestly wonder how familiar the author is with games. He could have made this super fun. Did he consider some of his audience might be familiar and this would be really tedious to listen to?
Anyways it was balls
