I’ve listed at all 15 “books” (most are novella length) in this series. The narrator is amazing, distinct voices for each major character and none have his voice, which is excellent. The author is no Cormak McCarthy for sure, count on some sort of “but, or, if” every paragraph, but it’s consistent. mainly it just kills me that the primary character is pretty much a genius of survival but never figures out that he could get more gas cans or water containers or an additional water filter even though he owns a camping store. he carries about 4,000 lb of ammunition across the country but keeps running out of water and gas, he steals gas from every gas station he comes to but shoots people for stealing things. as far as I can tell around book 13 someone probably complained that there was no minority representation in the book so the author mentioned a little girl with dreadlocks to imply that she was likely black. I’m middle-aged white man but even to me this story seems extremely white, not really in a racist sense just more in a sense that the author doesn’t even consider people of other races although maybe if you asked him he would say race is not important to the story; maybe he will reveal that some of the main characters are black at the end of book 15 which I’m finishing now that would be pretty funny but doesn’t have that type of feel to it.

All in all it’s included with my audible plus subscription and it’s definitely better than a lot of the stuff that’s free and I have no real complaints about it just getting a little irritated at the guy for doing so well with so many things and not considering easy solutions to small challenges.
