Frankly, it was difficult to get past the idea of some old bat being so stuck in the past, she’s still writing letters, not to mention to her NEIGHBOR. Just bizarre behavior. Also difficult was trudging through my disdain for the main character in all of her pretentious, self-important, selfish glory. Hated her. It’s possible the performance made her even more of a charicature. The story was OK, but it was a difficult story to get through in audio format, having to listen to addresses over and over. I don’t think I would have completed this book had I not been listening to it for book club.
