I quit after an hour and I have listened to dozens of post apoc books—serious and humorous ones.
This one’s lukewarm, not funny (and it tries real hard), and not serious either. From executing children outside the gate on one hand to be afraid to shoot the main bad guy when he strolls up to the gate and executes the main character’s best friend. Heck, the bad guy delivers an ultimatum that they would all be killed and casually strolls off. Yet, nobody has the insight to shoot him and end it all… So, which is it? Cold blooded on one hand (killing homeless kids needing shelter), but seismically stupid on the other (too afraid to assassinate their main target standing right were the kids stood).. The only time they get mean is with the overweight women running their community. Nope. Want my credit back (and my hour).
