If youre questioning whether to give this book/series a try, just do it. This was my first taste of litrpg (quite skeptical at first) but I was hooked immediately. Matt Diniman came up with such a unique and creative concept and he executes it perfectly with his exciting/suspenseful/comedic writing style. There was never a single point over my time going through all the books that I was bored. Each book is fairly lengthy too and yet you cant help, but continue reading/listening in bulk because you are always entertained and want to see whats next for Carl, Donut, and crew. Matt is simply the man for creating such an exciting, funny, and unique adventure. But the performance of Jeff Hays cant be overlooked either. Going through my intial listen I was enjoying the story so much that I never stopped to fully appreciate that it was just one guy doing a ridiculously superb job of narrating the wide cast of characters. When I did stop to think about it I was left shocked at Jeffs range and capability. He is very likely the best narrator ive heard for any book to date and he might add just as much to the personality and life of each character as much as author Matt does. Any way you slice it Dungeon Crawler Carl has been the most unique and enjoyable experience Ive found for my Audible collection.
