This is only the second LitRPG I’ve tried. I was skeptical and had very low expectations but I enjoyed the book. The reviews were so good and a friend recommended this series so I tried it. The story was creative and moved right along. Parts are ridiculous; I didn’t laugh, but they seemed so in keeping with the story that they didn’t bother me like they might in another book. For a beginner, who does not know Dungeons and Dragons well and who hasn’t played the games referenced in the story, I still give it a thumbs up. The narration was strong. I liked that the sound effects were not dominant. I will purchase the second book and I plan to listen to it soon.
