I did not get a feel of Firefly Orville or Serenity from this book. It was quite boring all the way through. I will say that maybe it could have been better with different narrator or maybe just adding on a good female narrator. It’s not all the narrator’s fault, not by any means, but the single narrator with a almost monotone voice just doesn’t quite make the story catch and hold your attention. To top that off, the story falls short of decent. The characters are all quite cracked in the head in more of a I almost feel sorry for this group of retarded misfits than a comedic gang of friends out to beat the world kind of way. I put this book on to listen to on the first night I bought it. I woke up hours later and upon skipping back to see what I missed I had fallen asleep shortly into chapter 2. I should have stopped there, I didn’t. I lost count of how many times I had to skip back because it literally put me to sleep. I pushed through and continued to listen for days waiting for the good parts to come up. I’m almost completely done with the book, less than 8 hours at time of this review and all I really want at this point is my time back, I could have listened to so many more enjoyable things than this.. Like a A-Z reciting of any dictionary, language or publication date does not matter, any of them would do. Or maybe an 85 hour transcription of dozen lawyers arguing over whether or not the sky is legally blue and grass is legally green, oh, throw in whether or not water is legally wet and fire is legally hot too, that’ll stump them. I am a fan of Firefly, Serenity, and The Orville. This is nothing like any of them, It’s almost criminal to compare this to them as marketing scheme.
