I have read/listened to two other complete collections of J.S. Morin, so I was aware of the writing style and some of the characters. Black Ocean: Galaxy Outlaws was a very good listen from start to finish. Black Ocean: Mercy for Hire didn’t grab me until midway thru the 93 hours. This collection just isn’t grabbing me. I’m 1/3 thru the 91 hours and groaning. Mikael Narmore is a fine narrator, but the voice picked for Mordecai the Wizard disturbs me everytime it is used. Some of the main characters are unlikeable. So what if a good trait surfaces once and again? The desire to follow their exploits is cold. I may start to skip stories and see if my impressions continue. Right now I can’t go on. Groan….
